Bally (1994 DMD) Shadow Pinball
Bally (Williams / Midway) created this unintended sleeper in 1994. Most refer to this game as “Williams’ other Twilight Zone” – which is the highest compliment and reference that can be made to a pinball machine.
The Shadow is designed by Brian Eddy – who really has only designed a few products, but are coveted by collectors world wide (Attack From Mars, Black Rose, Funhouse, Indiana Jones, Medieval Madness, Bride of Pinbot and The Shadow). Each of these limited run machines have hit (or are aiming to be) in the top 20 pinball machines of all time – which commands an average street price of $5,000 – $12,000 ! We truly believe the Shadow is heading there very soon as it incorporates items that no other pinball machine has.
Many times, movie theme licensed products tend to suffer from getting complete acceptance by the pinball community for one reason or another. Many times, it is because so much of the production budget went into licensing, that the machine suffered from cost reduction issues. This machine however was not hampered by budget issues per-se, but by the unloved back glass art design. However, the collector community keeps coming back to this machine so often because of it’s deep rule set and fantastic play, regardless of Alex Baldwin’s image on the backglass. The pinball restoration community has even gone to the efforts of creating new backglass artwork for those who just cannot live without this machine, but are too stubborn to view his image (which by the way is not offensive in any way, unless you of course don’t like his movies or TV shows).
Game Play and Design
Many machines suffer from repetitive shots, or even similar shots borrowed from other machine designs. The Shadow has 10 unique shots (not including targets, upper playfield and mode play). This game has so many game modes and point methods that the Professional and Amateur Pinball Association went on to create a tutorial to help you better understand the machine.
Unique features:
- Two user controlled diverters via extra flipper buttons
- Magnetic ball lock and throw method for storing balls in the upper lock loop. This awesome feature was instantly copied by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not machine by Stern years later.
- Upper playfield (The battlefield) which is a real-life breakout machine. This is so addictive and fast!
- Ring lighting for each completed diverter shot.
- Art-deco artwork and design. Very well done.
- Great use of colors all over the playfield
- Sounds are superb. One of the few pinball machines that you prefer to play loud as the sounds and voices are of excellent quality
Custom Restoration
This machine went though a very extensive restoration process. It was missing many pieces and quite a few were broken from heavy use. However, the playfield and cabinet were excellent. As well, these machines are known to suffer from broken welds (under the Battlefield on the motor slide mount and both Phurba diverter assemblies. Lastly, the upper lock loop (The Sanctum) always wears down through the wood, this machine was no different.
Our extensive restoration on this machine literally took over a month:
- Every board removed, inspected, resoldered, parts replaced, and tested
- Burned wiring harness replaced
- New DMD display !
- Battlefield completely disassembled – every part. Cleaned, re-welded, replaced parts, upgraded gear assembly, deep polished, and LEDs installed. Wood mounting panel sanded down and repainted.
- New battlefield kicker assembly.
- Wire form ramps removed, de-scaled and made CHROME to better match the rest of the machine. We just didnt feel gold ramps fit well here when everything else is chrome and stainless steel.
- New diverter mechanisms and entire push-pull solenoid system rebuilt (for both upper and lower diverters).
- Replacement diverter Phurba knife located (from DENMARK) at over $100. This machine is so desired, even unique used parts are next to impossible to find. We did it all !
- Sanctum magnet ball damage fully repaired, sealed, re-stickered and covered with additional stealth mylar.
- Many optic switches replaced with new units.
- Many new targets.
- Entire playfield stripped down to the surface, polished and waxed.
- New flippers and entire mechanisms, linkages, contacts etc.
- New star posts thoughout.
- New stainless steel posts
- New Sanctum wall drop target
- New Rubber
- New balls
- Replaced amber flash lamp housings with CLEAR, and used custom GREEN, BLUE and AMBER LED flash lamps inside. This makes for surprising and effective lighting, as well as uses more of the colors of the playfield. Traditionally, this machine used way too many amber lights.
- All new RING lamps (rice grain size lamps).
- New flipper buttons (4)
- New chrome legs and hardware
- New color matched cabinet leg protectors
- Rebuilt coin door and professionally finished. New lock
- Custom color matched LEDs and flash bulb LEDs through out the entire game.
- Cabinet polished and touched up (not much needed). NO FADE on either side! Amazing!
- Cabinet inside repainted and playfield back panel repainted
- Head touched up and inside repainted
- New head lock assembly

Captain Fantastic (Bally 1976 EM) – 4 Player Pinball
Description
This legendary electro-mechanical pinball is the higher end commercial 4-player model. Built in 1976, this is the last production year before all pinball machines went to solid state electronics (first generation of the microprocessor). Only 16,155 were ever made, and not too many exist today in this condition.
Captain Fantastic was a “Tommy” inspired game picturing Elton John as pinball champ Captain Fantastic. David Christensen did the artwork for this Bally game, using a lot of bright reds and blues. Piano keyboards appeared throughout the game, which was one of the first featuring custom-designed bumper caps with drawings of Elton John’s face. The back glass pictured a crowd scene based on the movie Tommy. This game also features mirror lines worked into the back glass art for a dazzling reflective effect. The background crowd features some of the artists friends as well as other historical figures. Greg Kmiec created the playfield design, which has a pleasing, uncluttered arrangement of targets and bumpers, plus four flippers.
This machine also comes with a special bonus: matching framed album cover – Elton John and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (which incidentally also won album of the year in 1976).
Restoration
This machine started with a very low 30,000 plays in it’s lifetime – which shows in it’s all original and untouched playfield. Hairline cracks exist in the paint (as would any play field of this age), but no wear marks.
- Top side playfield was entirely dismantled, cleaned, polished and waxed.
- All posts were replaced
- All rubbers replaced
- All bulbs replaced.
- Plastics cleaned and are crystal clear (no yellowing).
- Pop bumpers were replaced with custom Elton John tops.
- Drop targets were replaces with custom Elton John units.
- Every single wiper contact was cleaned, filed and re-aligned. This took a long time but necessary for long term reliability.
- New fuse holders.
- New bridge rectifier for bumpers and thumpers
- New flippers (4)
- New flipper mechanisms (4), linkage, wipers etc
- New bell coil (the other 2 worked fine).
- Works exactly like it is supposed to. All lights, modes, alternating circuits, score wheels, over-the-top buzzer, lockouts etc work perfect.
- coin door and trim polished. Slight dent in coin door.
- Replaced legs with chrome models
- cabinet just touched up, but no damage and fade.
- Backbox touched up, slight wear on top that was touched up.
- New locks
- Coin mechs and lockout works.
– Sold –

Gottlieb (1995 DMD) Stargate Pinball
Coming soon – we have an excellent original condition Gottlieb Stargate pinball machine that will be getting our typical royal treatment… Expected completion 5/5/2012 – reserve this machine today before it is gone.
About
Gottlieb, a leading developer of pinball machines in the 60’s and 70’s, kind of lost ground to Bally / Williams in the 80’s. They did bounce back in the 90’s with modern developments that rivaled their competitors. In fact, they did it all their way, without blatantly copying the circuits from Williams (as many pinball companies did in the 80’s to mid 90’s). Gottlieb actually has some unique pinball patents from this era, and their circuit boards are not prone to the same failures as the top earning Williams machines. However, for one reason or another, Gottlieb machines were always considered 2nd best due to the legacy of producing a decade of ho-hum machines.
Gottlieb battled back in their final years and came out with some great titles rivaling some of the best works from Williams and Bally. Stargate is considered by most all pinball collectors and reviews as finest machine Gottlieb ever produced. Many believe that if this machine had a Williams badge, that it would be vaunted to the top 25 pinball best machines of all time. That’s some pretty good company, and once you see and play this machine, you will also agree.
Features
This machine has some very unique features such as:
- Beautiful 3 dimension backglass with light ring.
- Kicking targets. They are actually tiny kicker solenoids behind each target.
- Targets that move
- Unique ramps and shots
- Multiple multi-ball modes
- Pyramid that moves and unleashes a hidden animated “glider” figure
Restoration
This machine will go through a full tear down and fully restored. It will include modern upgrades such as:
- full LEDs for dramatic and beautiful lighting and visual effects
- modernized light ring in back box
- Full tear down, play field polishing and wax
- Full flipper rebuild
- All rubbers replaced
– more to come –
Comes with our 90-day warranty program
Junkyard (Williams 1996) Pinball – Home Use Only
This machine is a Home Use Only (HUO) – which means it was purchased new and placed in someone’s home – never to be seen until now. This means it has very low hours of use, very little play and about as new condition that can be found. This machine is un-restored, but recently upgraded with LED lighting. Additionally, the balls have been replaced (due to age) and all the rubbers have been replaced (again due to age). Other than that, this machine is virtually perfect – and we RARELY ever see HUO machines.
Only 3013 units ever created, and the one of the last pinball machines ever to roll off Bally/Williams/Midway production lines before they closed their doors for good. What a way to capture an essentially new machine from the best pinball makers in the world – ever.

Mata Hari (Bally 1978) Pinball
Ok, so what’s the deal with the early Bally solid state games lately? Well, we just could not resist. Mata Hari just is an amazing piece of functional furniture that captures the era perfectly, and this machine is just ripe for a high end restoration.
As taken from ipdb.org: “Margaretha Zelle (1876-1917) was born in the Netherlands and established herself as a successful exotic dancer, traveling all over Europe under the name Mata Hari. During WWI she consorted with high-ranking officers, both German and French, which ultimately led to her being executed as a spy.”
This machine has the limited run backglass with the dagger inscription – in mint condition.
This machine also is the solid state version with the chime bar sounds… for the best of both worlds. Get the classic sounds with the reliability of solid state electronics.
Planned restoration:
- New playfield restoration with all new topside parts
- Fully restored cabinet with hand painted artwork
- New coin door and shooter hardware
- New chrome legs
- LED conversion for long lasting – cool operation.
- New circuit boards.
This high end restoration will be a fraction of the cost that our competitors charge.

Maverick (Data East / Sega 1994 SuperDMD) Pinball
On Sale Now
The infamous Japanese arcade company, Sega, purchased Data East Pinball in around 1994 in attempt to increase their product portfolio (I imagine). They were vastly successful in designing video games through out the years, but really had no experience in pinball. Fortunately, all Sega pinball were actually the latest Data East designs. Sega had massive name recognition and were able to get licensing from movie studios for their machines.
Sega launched 3 very innovative pinball machines (Baywatch, Frankenstein and Maverick) soon after with double size DMD displays that were very expensive, but allowed for the machines to have awesome animation.
Maverick
This machine is based around the movie Maverick for name recognition. Fortunately, the game play and rules were designed to last forever. This machine is based around the rules of poker and uses lots of innovative drop targets in order to create your hands. This is a skill shooter’s pinball machine, but is also very fun for beginners because it has lots of great animations and a great light show.
There have been many poker based pinball machines in the past, but Maverick stands alone for the use of the super DMD.
Restoration
This machine has lived in the home environment for many years. It does not have any signs of abuse, security hasps or beer/water stains. It did change hands twice, so it did get a couple of bumps and bruises in transportation, but they were all professionally repaired.
- Cabinet is a 9.5/10. No damage on the cabinet sides or front at all. Full color without fade.
- Backbox had a couple chips that were repaired and color matched.
- We did repaint the inside of the cabinet and back box in order to give it a new modern look.
- Playfield fully stripped, detailed and waxed
- New rubbers
- New balls
- Converted to LED lighting
- Ramp flame polished
- New drop target stickers
- Replaced broken targets
- Replaced opto-coupler sensors that usually go out on this machine
Megatouch Maxx (touchscreen) – Bar Top Arcade
NEW SALE PRICING
You’ve seen them in restaurants and pubs. These all-in-one bar top touchscreen arcade games are quite addictive and a great addition to a home game room or bar. They are very popular with kids to adults. This version has a lot of games, and the adult games can easily be removed using the configuration menu.
This machine has the faultless touchscreen controller and vivid monitor. It also comes with working coin mechanism and dollar bill acceptor (which is about a $300 option).
Machine has new locks, and can easily be set for free play or coin/dollar play.
Multiple versions are available at different prices. All machines have the core games that most people are looking for. However, some machines have been updated to newer software that adds a couple new games.
See this link for details on Megatouch machines. This is a competitors site, but is well documented and accurate information. You will also note that our prices are almost 50% less for the same machines. Search HERE for MegaTouch Maxx game list
Midway Arctic Thunder
Arctic Thunder is an incredible sledding simulator that takes players through amazing tracks featuring secret short cuts, hair raising free-fall drops and rewarding power ups to give players an extreme edge. Players race to the finish mastering tricks, dodging missiles and launching attacks. In addition to superior graphics and the snowmobile-like cabinet design with a built-in fan and seat shaker enhance the action-packed game play. As players apply a steady throttle to the handlebar, the sled accelerates, the seat rumbles and the fan blows a thin wind of cold air in your face, making Arctic Thunder the most realistic racer to date!
Machine separates into 2 manageable pieces, both on wheels for easy transportation and setup.

NBA Fastbreak (Bally 1997) Pinball
As one of the last efforts by Bally and Williams (also known as Midway) to keep pinball alive was to create new and involving pinball machines. The NBA Fastbreak is the only basketball themed pinball machine by the masters of pinball. Recently Stern came out with an NBA pinball machine, but many view it as an inferior knock off.
This NBA Fastbreak has a very unique mechanical backbox where it shoots baskets while you play, and in one mode, you control the action of both the backbox and real game. Not many pinball machines use the backbox for anything else but score.
Additionally, this machine has dual scoring (pinball score and baskets), which make this one of the best multi-player pinball games ever. Typically, pinball machines are best played as single player, but have the option for up to 4 players. This machine plays BEST with more than one player. Of course it has all the great features of modern pinball such as multiple multi-ball modes and missions to accomplish. Play at around midnight each night for a completely awesome surprise and chance to score big points.
Fully restored to like-new condition.
Backbox: a couple paint blemishes but no damage at all. All corners are perfect.
Cabinet: no fade. There is a small chip in the center bottom where it appears the prior owner removed an aftermarket sticker improperly and nicked the cabinet. It will be un-noticeable when we paint match the issue. Also, there is a small chunk of wood missing under the right rear leg. It is completely covered with the leg on.
Playfield: literally perfect. Zero damage or wear. Even the inlane and outlanes look brand new. See pictures.
Only 4414 units were ever made and this gem as become very hard to find now that people are on to how great this machine is.
Restoration
This machine was generally in good condition when we purchased it, but it still had plenty of issues. Apparently the operator borrowed pieces from this machine to service another, so we had to re-purchase all of those parts to make it whole again. Sometimes, I wonder what they were thinking.
- Full tear down and rebuild
- All ramps flame polished
- All new pop bumpers – these were destroyed
- many new VUKs
- new defender plastic
- new slingshot plastic
- new balls
- new rubber in white
- LED conversion
- repair of backbox mechanism
- replaced trough assembly
- replaced slingshot assembly
- repaired left ramp (around the back jam shot). This ramp is always cracked at the basket, and currently no new parts are available. When this ramp goes back into reproduction, this game will be flawless.
- repaired scoring LED circuit
- repaired various optos in the player-pass mechanisms
- refinished coindoor with new lock
- new legs and hardware
** We can also give this machine the Castle Classic Arcade exclusive
under cabinet LED flash kit for unbelieveable 16 color flash effect **

Ripley’s Believe it or Not (Stern 2004 DMD) Pinball
Ripley’s (RBION) is one of my most favorite machines designed by the legendary Pat Lawlor (and artwork by John Youssi). This machine has ALWAYS been said to be the Twilight Zone of pinball made by STERN – and I could not agree more. You may not even understand the game for a month before it really starts making sense. It is one of the most rewarding games to play well and keeps you coming back to play time and time again.
This particular machine is in fantastic original condition. Just a minor scuff on the side of the backbox, but otherwise all original. The playfield has no wear and all original, unbroken plastic.
The entire machine has been stripped, waxed and detailed. Followed up by new rubber, balls and a full custom LED replacement. We’ve done some creative work with the lighting as well.
The backbox fluorescent bulb has been replaced by custom LED lighting that slowly changes over time.
As well, the under cabinet LEDs are synchronized to the effects on the playfield for very dramatic play.
– SALE PRICING NOW until May 15 2013 –

Sega (1999) F355 Ferrari Challenge Arcade – Twin Racing Simulator
SALE PRICED TO MOVE
The grand daddy of them all : Ferrari F355 Challenge racing simulator – now at 50% off ! The lowest price for this machine in the country!
This machine was designed from the ground up a simulator by the designer who himself is a Ferrari enthusiast. This machine is vastly different from all other driving machines as it was intended to be a real-life simulator, without exaggerated physics. You could actually learn how to drive with this machine, and without a doubt, would make teens better at the wheel of a car.
Also, this machine is fun, which is the best part. Since we all don’t have ready access to cars which cost $250k, this is the next best thing. With this machine, you and a friend can race side-by-side on real life tracks. Use automatic or paddle shifting, and even adjust the ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control, and Intelligent Brake System. System has force feedback steering, stereo sound with subwoofer and full size 29″ monitors.
Additionally, both machines are topped with a huge Ferrari F355 challenge header, which by far is the coolest thing I’ve seen on an arcade.
This machine cost close to $20,000 new and is still selling for over $7k. We’re pricing this machine to move quickly. Put this in your home and you’ll have friends young and old want to play it. Put this in your restaurant or bar and people will drive across town. Because of the low production numbers and Ferrari collectors keeping them in their man-caves, you will not likely find one in public, especially at this price.
Features:
- TWO separate driving simulators. Drive separately or linked to drive against each other
- 29″ full size monitors
- Full size sit down, like a car. Adjustable seat
- Paddle or automatic shifting
- ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control, and Intelligent Brake System selective controls
- Multiple real life tracks
- Training, Practice and Race modes
- Stereo sound with subwoofer in each car
- Full size lit topper spans entire machine
- Machine separates into 3 parts for easier moving. Simulators are on wheels for moving
- Coin or free play centralized between machines.
- Can separate machines. They will play on their own.
- Force feedback steering
- The most authentic driving simulator created for the arcade. Drive a real Ferrari F355 !
Note: This is an oversized item and shipping will be more than a standard arcade. We will work with you, call us. Also, at this price, it’s worth driving to pick up!

Sega / Stern (1995 Ultra DMD) Frankenstein Pinball
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Created by Sega (also known as Stern during this transition).
Only 3000 of these machines were produced world wide.
This machine also has a unique OVERSIZED digital matrix display. Normal DMD displays are 128×32. This one is 192×64 which allows for better graphics and animations. And since this essentially a new machine, this display runs perfect and will not need to be replaced.
This machine is HOME USE ONLY. Which is a rare find. This means the machine has never been in public use and was purchased for the home when new. That means it has very low plays and is essentially a [10/10] in condition and quality. You will know it is effectively new as soon as you see it.
We will also be updating this machine to current standards to make it even better (if that’s possible):
- Replace all rubber
- Detail and wax
- Add leg/cabinet protectors (increases the life of the machine)
- Add button protectors (increases the life of the machine)
- Replace all incandescent bulbs with color LEDs
- Replace all flash bulbs with high energy LEDs
- Replace all balls
- Under cabinet LED flash effects. Dramatically enhances game play
Check back soon for pictures and video – or call/email to reserve before it’s gone. This machine will be ready for pickup/delivery in 5-7 business days.
Stern (2000 DMD) Sharkey’s Shootout Pinball
This very rare pinball machine is actually a re-release or modernization of Bally’s legendary pinball machine: Eight Ball Deluxe. Sharkey’s updates are obvious: DMD, multiball, modern cabinet, better lighting and effects etc.
This is the most modern pool themed pinball machine created, and with the aid of Incredible Technologies (the makers of Golden Tee and Silver Strike Bowling), was designed with high quality parts and improved game play. Actual production numbers of this machine are not quite known, but expected to be less than 2000 world wide! However, since this is a STERN product, parts and service will always be available for this machine.

See our restoration blog on this machine
Additional Upgrades:
- Full LED conversion ($350 value)
- Backbox color changing backbox upgrade/conversion ($100 value)

- Black Knight (1980 Williams)
- Hyperball (1981 Williams)
- Devastator (1983 Williams Video Game)
- High Speed (1985 Williams)
- F-14 Tomcat (1987 Williams)

- High Speed II – The Getaway (1992 Williams)
- Star Trek: The Next Generation (1993 Williams)
- No Fear: Dangerous Sports (1995 Williams)
Restoration
This No Fear was left alone in the dark for awhile, but that’s good for you! The result is a well preserved original playfield and cabinet.
We fully disassembled this machine and worked on literally every part to bring this back to life.
- Every board was removed, re-soldered, repaired as necessary and tested. All wiring labeled and tested. CPU board is trouble free without any battery corrosion damage. Nice!!
- Each ramp removed, flame polished (including the subway ramp under the playfield), polished and repaired as necessary. The main ramp typically gets hairline cracks from the impact of the jump ramp and heat damage from the electro-magnet accelerators.
- Talking skull fully disassembled, re-aligned and new micro coil/sleeve assembly inserted. Custom red LED eyes and blue skull flashers used. It’s awesome.
- Entire playfield stripped, detailed, waxed. No wear. No Fear!
- All new rubbers (white), including yellow ramp post rubber. You have to fully disassemble this machine to get to all the rubbers. Many people just do the ones you can see and reach with simple tools (not us).
- All optics cleaned and tested. This machine uses a lot of optical sensors.
- New coil sleeves on high wear items such as drop target and shooter/kickback.
- New shooter and kickback
- New No Fear button (with LED)
- New switch on drop target.
- Rebuilt coin door
- Full custom LEDs in backbox, playfield and front buttons. A MUST for this machine.
- New flippers, linkages, and all associated parts. Including the custom JUMP RAMP flipper. Most people ignore this.
- New slingshot plastics. All other plastics are excellent.
Williams Alley Cats (1985) Shuffle Bowler
We don’t usually deal with shuffle alley bowlers, but this machine was too cool. Not only that, it is built with all pinball parts and circuits from Williams – so the machine is reliable and repairable for years and years in the future.
This machine has seen the following Castle Classic Arcade treatment:
- Cabinet repair and repaint.
- New pin striping
- Completely replaced 6 player score display with LED boards and drivers. Will last forever
- Buffed playfield and rewaxed
- New puck
- New can of shuffle alley wax.
This machine will ship locally without disassembly. However, if you need to move it up stairs, the machine comes apart in 4 simple sections with only a handful of external bolts. All wiring simply detaches with simple connectors.
Priced below our competitors, yet this machine is nicer!
World Cup Soccer (Bally 1994 DMD) Pinball
Description
Another excellent example of a Bally pinball machine. This WPC generation pinball machine is one of the few sports related pinball machines of the era. At first glance, this machine appears to look easy and simple minded as the apparent goal is to shoot pinballs past the moving goalie. Play it a couple more times and you’ll find that this machine is much much deeper with a larger purpose in mind – to beat Germany and win the World Cup.
This pinball machine actually has 2 unique playfield toys: a center mounted goal in the far back of the machine with a moving goalie. The goalie is also a playfield target, so the machine reacts when you strike him, or in some modes, the idea is to hit the moving goalie.
The other toy is the large spinning soccer ball. This ball will spin in either direction and will deflect pinballs all over the playfield. Hit it right and you can score a wild shot past the goalie.
This machine integrates awesome video animations on the large 128×32 DMD display that are timed perfectly with the game play. This machine also has a unique set of multi-ball modes unique to this machine.
World Cup Soccer also has one of the better light shows with use of deep color elements all over.
There are 2 levels of ramps that are smooth and fast. At one end is a unique ball lock mechanism powered by an electro-magnet.
This machine is a favorite with beginners because of the playful nature, but very fun and rewarding for the advanced pinball enthusiast.

Restoration
This machine went through a deep restoration process. More so than many of our machines. Other than the typical full top side teardown and replacement of rubber pieces, this machine has:
- New purple playfield ejection cups.
- All ramps in perfect condition were flame polished for clarity
- New ramp direction linkages
- New goalie target and decals
- New decals on standup targets and spinner
- All annodized gold items were turned chrome: wiremold ramp, skill shot, legs. We believe this machine looks a ton better in chrome than with the gaudy gold annodized parts.
- New thumper plastics and skill shot diverter
- Cliffy protectors installed on all ejection cups, start holes and goal.
- coin door fully rebuilt
- Full custom LED in playfield, back box, coin door and buttons.
- new start button
- new balls
- new flipper buttons
- all new flippers and full linkage mechanisms
- new locks
- electronics in super original condition. Display is ultra bright and crisp.
- custom hand rebuilt soccer ball by us. Hand painted and clear coated. No wear!!!! You wont see another like this.
- cabinet in super condition with little to no fade on either side.
- playfield is in excellent condition.
